Interactive and spectacular spaces for musical

celebration

The Center for Black Music is an ambitious and innovative project at the cutting edge of technology. This museum engages visitors via a series of interactive multimedia installations rather than a collection of artefacts. Designed for people from all cultural backgrounds and all levels of literacy, this series of fun and educational musical displays presents the major artists, traditions and historical evolution of black music in a format that is accessible to connaisseurs and curious newcomers alike.

The exhibition layout is being designed by renowned Brazilian architect, Pedro Mendes da Rocha, while the exhibition content is being produced by Mondomix, in collaboration with an international committee of African, European and American musical specialists, directed by the journalist David Brun Lambert. Technical elements and multimedia productions is being developed by Atelier 144.

• A fun and educational musical journey
  
  The exhibition will consist of touch screens, interactive terminals, film projections and listening stations. Visitors can move freely around this musical universe, equipped with their own personal audio systems.
  The exhibition will be continually updated with new musical content and expanded with new multimedia installations.
   

• An online resource and documentation center
  
  The online resource and documentation Center will disseminate the Center for Black Music’s activities on a global scale. The visitor will be able to deep the contents proposed during the exhibition thanks to a multimedia database continuously updated with new information on artists, music movements and instruments… Musical recordings will be available on legal downloading platforms.

• Beyond its role as co-founder of the Center, Mondomix will continue its collaboration by making available the articles, videos and interviews with artists from the website www.mondomix.com</li>

Throughout the year a variety of events related to the content of the museum will be organised and hosted by the Center For Black Music in collaboration with the Museu du Ritmo.
