Presentation of the Center for Black Music and press conference in Paris
PARIS thursday May 20, 2010 : show and press conference
for the presentation of the Black Music Center's project
The presentation of the Center for Black Music took place at the Mix Box, in Paris on Thursday May 20, 2010. Numerous partners and journalists came and appreciated the live performance of Carlinhos Brown and Margareth Menezes, both together on stage for the occasion.
The evening started with a presentation of the project by Marc Benaiche, Mondomix director and creator of the project, then his Brazilian and Senegalese partners also made their respective speeches. Carlinhos Brown, born in Salvador, highlighted the importance of such a project within a state like Bahia, the heart of an important melting pot and cradle of the Afro-Brazilian culture. Syndiély Wade, Cultural Adviser to the Senegal Presidency, was also on stage to speak about the World Festival of Black Arts, which will host the International Exhibition of Black Music (10th-31st December 2010) in Dakar.
Two films were shown, in order to present the future Center for Black Music in pictures.
A successful night with a very Brazilian atmosphere rich in samba and the drums of Carlinhos. A cocktail-buffet after the show provided the guests with refreshing caïpirinhas amongst other things.
