The Center for Black Music on the occasion of the Year of France in Brazil
Public presentation of the project
On the 13th November 2009, the Centre for Black Music presented a temporary two-month exhibition that was recognised as part of the “Year of France in Brazil” celebrations.
The project was introduced during a press conference with Carlinhos Brown, representatives from the State Government of Bahia, the Year of France in Brazil and the Center for Black Music.
Extending over a 200m² space, the temporary exhibition was designed to introduce the project: 12 interactive multimedia terminals and a video outlining the Center For Black Music exhibition trail foreshadowed the Center’s artistic and musical content, whilst sketches and layout designs from architect Pedro Mendes da Rocha gave an idea of the appearance of the final structure, as well as installations created by Thierry Coduys.
In partnership with the Festival “Musiques Métisses” of Angoulême, artists from Africa and Bahia performed from the 13th to the 15th of November in the Museu du Ritmo. The artists were : Awadi, Tiken Jah Fakoly, Boubacar Traoré, Mounira, Tcheka.
